After selecting the walnut root plank for each rifle, we
start making the rifle stock by our own design and all
by hand.
Working the plank by file, the profile of the stock
slowly gets its shape. To secure the precise fit between
wood and metal, the fitting of the mechanism and barrel
is done by hand.
After the stock has got its definite shape, the outer
and inner profiles are refined with smaller files and
with sand paper.
The oil treatment of the stock takes about five weeks.
The result is a silky finish that gives life and depth
to the natural beauty of the walnut root.
When the oil treatment is almost done, the checkering is
cut in by hand. The precise cut, 24 lines per inch, is
done by Mr Master Gunsmith Viggo Olsson.
